Bomb The Music Industry - Fest 9 - Gainesville, FL
This is the last 2 songs from their set but it’s the only part I was able to film since they conflicted with Twelve Hour Turn. Looking back I wish I was able to catch more of BTMI as it was easily some of the most fun I had filming all Fest and I won’t be able to see them at Fest 10 (I’m stuck working Saturday night again)
hoping to get the rest of the Fest 9 videos uploaded between this week and next as I finally got my hard drives back, I think Comadre is the next one going up’

If somehow you haven’t heard of Into It. Over It. yet I hope you’ll take the time to watch this video of his Fest 9 set. This was the first time I’ve gotten to see Evan Weiss since he last came through town about 2 years ago with the sweethearts in Former Thieves, which thanks to that show I now know what it sounds like when crust punks poorly try to play harmonica along to “Anchor”.
Since that time he has put out 80ish (or 7) releases with a lot of great bands on some amazing labels that you should check out and support (that’s what the links at the bottom are for). Like always Evan’s currently on a tour that’s more than likely going through your town, go watch him live, buy him some pizza, and yell at him to play Map the Growth songs acoustic (or just his Everyone Everywhere cover).

Algernon Cadwallader playing at Fest 9. This video is a bit different then the other Fest ones since I only caught pieces of their official set when they played at Common Grounds and then also the warehouse show the night before, so I just combined them all into one video. The lighting was non-existent for the warehouse but it was still a ton of fun, If you want to skip to that nonsense starts around 4:34
They have a new LP coming out this summer, it’s more than likely going to be awesome

I forget who originally told me about it (probably Barrie, she knows everyone lets be honest) but I was really confused when I was told bands would be playing on a dead end street behind La Tienda, then again it is Fest where anything can happen.
After packing up gear with the National Underground crew we made our way over to catch Touché Amoré last song (I’ll post that eventually) and then Defeater. I had never seen or listened to much of them before Fest but after watching their set at the side stage on Friday I was hooked. I completely forgot about this until re-watching this video last night but if your a Touché Amoré fan you’ll enjoy something near the end of the 2nd song.
I also love how there are a ton of people wearing Topshelf Records shirts, Kevin must have just been throwing them out for free before I showed up, I still don’t have one!
Defeater has a new album coming out on Bridge 9 records that you can pre-order here - http://www.b9store.com/defeater
I’m trying to get YouTube to give me the no-timelimit video access again so I can put the Into It. Over It. and Comadre sets up soon without having to break them up

I’m pretty jaded when it comes to “hardcore” bands as most just don’t offer anything new for me and I get bored really easily. Convinced that it would be awhile before someone topped Verse’ “Aggression” I pushed off listening to the TA/LD split that a friend had sent me until this summer when I finally caved and then immediately regretted waiting so long to listen to it. I spent the next weeks rambling to anyone who would listen about how amazing La Dispute was, describing it as if Thursday went heavier after “Full Collapse” came out.
I added them to my ‘must film’ list the second I saw they were playing Fest 9 (and after Robert told me they played his house a couple months before and I was dumb for not seeing them then). Their set was everything I wanted it to be and more as they opened up with my personal favorite “New Storms for Old Lovers”
Check out their website for updates on all their 2011 adventures and especially look out for their upcoming split with Koji.

I guess YouTube decided to grant me one of the accounts where I don’t have a time restriction on uploads anymore, which is awesome because then I can just upload full sets as one video, which means less exports from final cut and more videos on the internet faster!
Also I’ve had a couple people mention to me that Vimeo doesn’t work that well for them so I’ll have the embed be youtube now with a link to vimeo. For those who don’t realize YouTube’s quality settings also affects sound quality, so the 720p version is going to sound alot nicer then the 360p one. anyways…….
this was easily one of the best sets I saw all Fest, I had a couple of friends ask me to film their set and I really wanted to see La Dispute so figured I would get to the atlantic early to get my favorite spot to shoot from. After they played I knew what I just watched was something I would never forget. You need to see this band live and buy their records. True Story

finally got to catch No Friends playing live even though I only made it to the end of their set, still worth it. Hopefully going to see them play at Will’s Pub next week.

Tumblr seems to be working somewhat consistently again so more videos soon? I have some more convoluted video projects that I’m working on / coming up in the future that hopefully turn out ok, if they don’t you can look forward to me complaining about it here

I thought about what nonsense I would write when posting this video and when it came down to it none of it really made any sense. The short version of it was this was easily one of the highlights of the whole weekend for me as The Menzingers played one of the best sets I’ve ever seen at the Venue.
They’re heading out on tour again in December so if you haven’t heard their new album yet you need to go buy it now and then find the closest town they are playing in and get there, do it!
